We've created a gallery for the Baltimore arts community in the Mt. Vernon Arts District. A gallery where the local artist can be seen - and can be known. But there is also a secondary reason for what we have started...
At The Light, we recognize that artists have generally had a difficult time finding their niche in the modern American Church. Rather than pigeonholing people into producing "safe" art (that can often just be replications of what has already been done), we want artists to grow in who they are as artists and how God is speaking to and through them. We aren't just looking for artists that are following Jesus - but you will find some here.
We also want to develop a community that supports and engages art. For the non-artist, this means that we learn and grow in what it means to support and engage the arts in the larger realm of God's creation.
